This informative note is also inspired by the Recommendation n. 2/2001 that the European Authorities for the protection of personal details, combined in the Group established by art. 29 of the Directive n. 95/46/CE, adopted on 17th May 2001 to identify some minimum requirements for the collection of personal details on-line and, in particular, the methods, times and nature of the information that the holders of processing may provide to the users when they connect to web pages, regardless of the objectives of the connection.

What are Cookies

Cookies are small files of text that the websites visited by the User send and register on his device, subsequently retransmitted to the same websites with the following visit. Thanks to the cookies, the website remembers the action and preferences of the user so that they do not have to be indicated once again when the user goes back to visit the same site or surfs from one page to another. Therefore, cookies can be used to carry out IT authentications, controlling of sessions and storage of information regarding the activities of users that access a site. Furthermore they may also contain a unique identification code to trace the activities carried out by the user in the website itself for statistic or advertisement objectives.
